Behind the Lens: Capturing the JCI World President's Visit to Dublin – Part 1
Day 1: A Presidential Arrival and a Tech-Powered Welcome
As the official photographer for the JCI World President's visit to Ireland, I had the distinct honour of capturing every moment of President Keisuke Shimoyamada's three-day journey across Dublin. This blog series is my visual and narrative diary, starting with the excitement of Day 1.
Welcome to Dublin
President Shimoyamada arrived at Dublin Airport to a warm welcome from the JCI Ireland team. Among those greeting him were JCI Ireland National President Pierre Yimbog and JCI Dublin Local President Emer Walshe. With banners, flags, and beaming smiles, the atmosphere was electric. As I snapped the first shots of the day, I could already tell this visit was going to be something special.
Inside Google HQ: A Glimpse into Innovation
From the airport, the delegation headed straight to the heart of Dublin's tech scene—Google HQ. The tour offered President Shimoyamada a behind-the-scenes look at one of the world's most innovative workplaces. Photographing the President as he explored the vibrant offices, interacted with Google staff, and learned about Ireland's role in global tech innovation was both a visual and professional highlight.
Lunch with a View
After the tour, a private lunch was held at Google with stunning panoramic views of the city. The atmosphere was relaxed yet filled with meaningful conversations about leadership, digital innovation, and global collaboration. Capturing these candid moments was a joy, as each image told a story of connection and inspiration.
Presidential Reception at The Dean
As the sun set, the day concluded with a stylish presidential reception at The Dean in the elegant Blue Room. Local JCI members, leaders, and guests gathered to celebrate the visit. President Shimoyamada delivered a heartfelt speech, setting the tone for the days to come. I moved through the crowd, capturing laughter, handshakes, and the sparkle of a truly memorable evening.
Coming Up in Part 2: Stay tuned as we follow President Shimoyamada through a day of impactful community visits, cultural moments, and engaging with young Irish leaders.
