Aaron’s Cake Smash in Clontarf, Dublin — A Sweet First Birthday to Remember
From Behind the Lens: A Cake Smash Session Full of Personality and Joy
One of my favourite things about being a photographer in Dublin is capturing those fleeting, joy-filled milestones that parents will treasure forever. Aaron’s cake smash session in my Clontarf studio was one of those beautiful moments that reminded me why I love what I do.
Aaron had just turned one, and to celebrate, we planned a fun and stylish cake smash photoshoot that was equal parts adorable and chaotic—in the best way.
The Setup: Soft Tones and Playful Details
I styled the session with a calming, coordinated palette of blues and whites to create a timeless, boyish feel. Soft balloons, textured paper fans, and classic bunting brought a touch of celebration, while a rustic wooden cake stand gave the scene an organic warmth.
Aaron arrived in the perfect little outfit—checkered trousers and a light blue polo shirt. He was curious, calm, and utterly charming. That calmness didn’t last long once the cake came out, of course.
Let the Cake Smash Begin
The moment the cake was placed in front of him, Aaron lit up with delight. First, a gentle poke. Then a handful. And within minutes, there was cake everywhere—in his hands, on his face, even under his tiny toes. These are the moments I live for behind the camera—authentic, unscripted, full of laughter and love.
He wore a little gold party hat for a few shots, holding his light-up “1” with pride, and glanced up with the kind of innocent expression that makes this age so magical to capture.
Why I Love Cake Smash Photography in Dublin
Cake smash photography is such a fun and unique way to mark a baby’s first birthday. It's about more than just cake—it's about personality, discovery, and joy. In my Clontarf studio, I focus on creating a relaxed environment so your little one can feel comfortable, safe, and free to explore.
These sessions aren’t just for adorable Instagram-worthy photos (though there are plenty!). They're about capturing the real emotions and little quirks that define your baby’s first year.
